We believe God not only called us to plant a church in the heart of downtown Durham, but also to be a catalyst, a church that helps create a movement. We believe this includes helping in the work of other church plants, for-profits, and non-profits, in Durham and beyond, that seek the renewal of all things through and for Christ.
Christ Central Church has various outreach initiatives, either directly overseeing such ministries or partnering with other organizations.
Adoption & Foster Care Outreach
Contact: Macon James
A ministry that desires to help fulfill the call to care for the orphan either through adoption, foster care or serving alongside these families. This ministry exists to support and care for both prospective and existing, foster and adoptive families. The main opportunity to serve is through joining a Family Support Team assigned to a specific adoptive or foster family. Family Support Teams will serve alongside the family by providing free babysitting nights, praying for the family, assisting with a meal train upon placement and being willing to serve in spontaneous ways as needs arise.
Christ Central partners with CC Spalding Elementary School and plans to partner with Habitat for Humanity or Rebuilding Together of the Triangle:
CC Spaulding Educational Partnership
Our goal is to come alongside in support of the students, families, teachers, and staff of CC Spaulding Elementary School. Opportunities to serve include regularly weekly classroom volunteers, as well as periodic opportunities to serve during special events. Outside the classroom, service opportunities include collecting supplies to address specific needs and providing encouragement to teachers.
Housing Repair Outreach Team (upcoming)
Contact: Andrew Miles
The work conducted under this ministry will be an expression of Christ’s love and hope to the neighbors in our city. We will use volunteers from our congregation and our financial resources to make essential repairs to the homes of disadvantaged homeowners in Durham on a monthly basis.
