The Mercy Ministry is under the diaconate with pastoral insight. Men and women of the church serve on the Mercy Ministry committee. The Mercy Ministry Team committee has about 10 volunteer members. Various works such Faith & Finances and Work Life require about 25 volunteers each for approximately 4 months serving on a weekly basis.
Current Challenges: Racial discord
All who come to the church in need are personally met with. While relief is provided in some situations, relational ministry is pursued with several projects or programs.
This program is held once per year in the winter/spring (previously Jobs for Life was offered for about 5 years). Work Life is a relational jobs ministry for the underemployed or unemployed in our community. Built on the idea of transformative relationships, the curriculum sets up Allies and Participants (students) to walk together in a highly relational way as they study vocational stewardship. Work Life provides participants with the skills, self-confidence, biblical understanding of work, and employer connections they need to get a job to provide for themselves and their families.
Faith & Finances
This program is held once per year in the fall. It is a 12-week class with curriculum designed to teach financial literacy and sound practices to those who may be living paycheck to paycheck, have poor credit, have no emergency fund, or who have utilized payday loans. The content is highly interactive and designed to be accessible to individuals from a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds.
Trinity Presbyterian Church also partners with the following:
CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) Program
Trinity partners with various agencies to offer a CNA class once per year. For the most recent class, Trinity partnered with the local community college for the class that is held on-site at Trinity.
PACEM Homeless Ministry
PACEM stands for “People and Churches Engaged in Mission”. It is a ministry that provides housing, meals, and hospitality for the homeless population about 6 months of the year. Churches provide shelter and meals and take on one or 2 week commitments to do so. Trinity participates housing about 40 men for 2 weeks of the year.
